About Me
Ros Guthrie, MSc.Dip UKCP
I am a UKCP accredited Integrative psychotherapist, Couples counsellor and Supervisor. I am fully trained in EMDR and provide trauma informed therapy to individuals and couples.
My initial training was in the scientific field, but I grew more passionate about the arts and humanities after volunteering for the mental health charity, SANE, and later becoming a Mental Health advocate and Manager. I eventually trained as an Integrative psychotherapist at Middlesex University and passed with distinction in 2007.
Since then, I have undertaken further specialist training in relationship therapy, EMDR and somatic trauma therapy as well as Supervision. I have worked within the NHS, at Traumatic Stress Service Maudsley hospital, London Ambulance Service and Corporate sector providing support to staff teams.
My approach
“There is no such thing as an infant’ meaning, of course, that wherever one finds an infant one finds maternal care, and without maternal care there would be no infant.”
Winnicott
Like Winnicott, I believe humans are fundamentally relationship seeking, and that we find meaning through the relationships we have in our personal, familial or professional lives.
I am informed by such humanistic concepts and a range of developmental theories that see humans as relational, creative and full of potential. I believe that as your therapist, my role is to hold the supportive space you need in order to guide and gently challenge you throughout that journey towards a healthier, happier relationship with yourself and others.
As a Mancunian in London, from an African Caribbean heritage, I am keen to bring a sense of inclusion and anti-discrimination to my practice and enjoy working with a diverse range of clients.
I believe my scientific rigour combines with my passion for narrative and expression in order to use art, metaphor and imagery to help clients unlock their own inner wisdom to get more out of life.
Specialisms
I have a special interest in helping relationships heal from trauma, and I integrate trauma informed approaches including EMDR where appropriate.
Location
I have a private practice in Acton, W3 and Mayfair, W1 and also offer on – line sessions via Zoom.
